Perhaps one of the most controversial tattoo designs of all time, the vagina tattoo has evoked very strong emotions to people who have either expressed total devotion to such pieces of body art or completely condemned it, believing it to be the height of exhibitionism.

But come to think of it, the rationale of a vagina tattoo could well be an expression of freedom of choice. There are plenty of things we do with our own bodies, to enhance sexuality, to send out a message, to conform to the latest style and trend or simply to follow a hero we admire.

If we are free to copy a celebrity tattoo or use our creativity to design tattoos in different parts of our anatomy, there ought to be nothing wrong with a woman deciding to place a tattoo on her vagina. After all, it is her own body, her own life and her own freedom of choice.

The rise in erotic tattoos, of which the vagina tattoo is a part of, is an outcome of the ease of the tattooing process along with the permissiveness of modern day society. There are many people who consciously follow a ‘controversial’ lifestyle, which may not conform to the values and beliefs which many people have.

If you take life to be all about choices, vagina tattoos are also one such choice of body art, which unfortunately does not conform to the usual locations of body that people are used to. For instance, tattooing is today a very normal and near painless process. So, if one can tattoo her breasts, inner thighs, hips and other delicate parts of her anatomy, what is exactly wrong with a vagina tattoo?

The vagina tattoos also have another salient feature. Because it is at a hidden part of the body, it automatically has a very mysterious and personal touch to it. As if the woman has done something beautiful to her body for someone special. The logical reason for getting a vagina tattoo could also be to consciously hide it from public eye – if the person is in a profession where tattoos are not very well accepted.

It is a fact, that a vagina tattoo will not easily get accepted by enthusiasts who have a superficial interest on the subject and view tattooed people with more curiosity than genuine admiration. But for true tattoo lovers the vagina tattoo is definitely well appreciated and admired.

Then there are people who would like to publicly display their erotic tattoos. You would se such women having their entire breast areas tattooed and then wearing skimpy see-through clothes to show off their tattoos. Or visit nude beaches to express their freedom further.

Whatever the reason for a woman to sport a vagina tattoo, it is definitely a very bold way to express your choices of body adornment.
