How can I properly care for my ankle/foot tattoo?

I got my tattoo 3 days ago, and my tattoo artist told me to wash it 2-3 times daily and to apply the provided antimicrobial lotion. I have A&D ointment, but I am not sure if it is safe to use it, considering I have not used it yet. Is it safe to start using the A&D ointment now?

    yes. wash it with antibacterial soap 2-3 times a day like he said, and then apply the a&d ointment 5-7 times a day. you have to keep it moist with the a&d for the first 7 days, then switch to a scent free lotion until the tattoo is finished flaking. hope this helped!
