The Japanese Tattoo (Horimono)

Tattoo videos from YouTube

As the power of the common people of Japan grew in the latter half of the Edo period (18th and 19th century CE) horimono, or traditional Japanese tattoos, began to flourish as an art form. Based on images from watercolour paintings, woodcuts and popular picture books of the time, the ultimate reward for the long endurance of pain would be a tattoo of immense beauty. To fully understand Japanese horimono it is important to understand their history and background, and it is equally important to continue to preserve the tradition behind them.

  • The more i see these full body tattoos the more it makes mee want it on my own body

  • wasn’t happy with the way he answered? Fuck that’s crazy.

  • this is just crazy

  • they can say those things because it’s not like in America where if you are affiliated with an organized crime organization you can be tried under all of its crimes… that’s a very recent law in America, we had to make it just for the Mafia

  • 日本の恥だからやくざは消えて無くなれ!
Yakuza, YOU guys go to hell because you ARE our SHAME.
SHAME on you , yakuza,DIE yakuza.

  • ???

  • congratulations

  • me are Yakuza e no rike youtube me kill u ~!!

  • That’s YKUZA!
    scary…

  • someday im gonna be a yakuza.. 1 more year im going to japan damn ahahahaha

  • these guys are the shit! they have the balls to say ‘yeah im Yakuza, so what’ they even hang signs outsid their hang-outs with there gang logo on it. they were quicker to help people after an earthquake than the cops!

  • The Yakuza are sufficiently powerful to have had Hideo Murai assassinated on national television in the presence of 10 police officers and 100 reporters, with a knife. Someone as powerful as the men in the documentary don’t fear criminal prosecution.

  • How interesting. ^^
    Is there more to this?

  • No it isnt,
they havent said anything which has linked them to any crime whatsoever.
Just because they are Yakuza, it doesnt mean they automatically get arrested.
So even if they are Yakuza, they havent proven that theyve done anything to break the law, so they can go on TV as much as they want.
On the other hand, if they went on TV and admitted to killing people, and whatever else you mentioned, then fair enough.

  • nice video

  • popolo?

  • you can study something as much as you want but that donbt mean shit… the only reason i come back to this is when people reply. stupid popolo

  • ya that is pretty stupid when someone gets a tattoo they cant read, and its done wrong!

but i would say your racist because you keep coming back too this video too tell non-Japanese that they cant get a Japanese tattoo….which seems stupid because some of us actually study the language and understand the kanji we use….

i don’t have any tattoos so don’t reply with a stupid comment about me not understanding Japanese and having a Japanese tattoo!

  • Who will go after them, and not have their family chopped up as well?
    Exactly!
    Yakuza-Irezumi.

  • Thanks for uploading this echotoeternity

  • whats this doco called?

  • if the guys are yakuza i wonder y they’re showing them in a documentary. and showing their faces if they’re criminals. doing that is pretty much going on tv and saying “yes i have spent half my life extorting money, selling drugs, and hurting people” but watever. not bashing the documentary, just wondering. if anyone knows lemme know.

  • 嘘!

  • dubberdubs? c’mon man. . . -_-

  • first of all i wuld laugh if i seen a hale wearing a kimono. and yes there is other tattoo styles but i see mostly japanese tattoo. its just disrespectful to wear smething on your skin when you dont understand what it means and thats the truth. i see so many wrng tattoos.
