About Me

I began my tattoo adventure in the late 1980s when I hand-poked a dime-sized Peace sign on myself using sewing needles and art store India ink.

A few years later, I was hanging out at the local tattoo shop, helping walk-ins find designs, making stencils, cleaning: learning the ropes.

By 1993 I was offered a spot tattooing, but it wasn’t until 1997 that I saw Indiana legalize tattooing for the first time. In June of that year, I founded The OUCH! Gallery: Indiana’s first licensed, health department-certified, tattoo studio.

Since then—after tens of thousands of tattoos, dozens of guest spots and tattoo conventions—meeting thousands of artists I’ve worked with and been tattooed by and tattooed ON and had drinks with and bizarre capers with and—well, you get it!

I have a few stories to tell.

My favorite tattoos are large scale floral motifs and anything Americana/Sailor Jerry.

I use traditional, hand-crafted coil machines and personally hand-build the needles for your appointment.

Getting tattooed by me is an amazing way to start, or add to, your own tattoo adventures!
